After the exploits of the younger elements at the Sussex Schools cross-country championships on Wednesday it is the turn of parents and grandparents on Saturday when the Sussex Masters Championships are held at Lancing Manor.
Starting at 1.00 with the Men’s M50 and M60 championships this is followed by the Women’s race which includes all three age groups.
Last year Caroline Hoyte (Arena 80) and Elspeth Turner (Horsham) were the first two to cross the finishing line and both are in the W45 age group and with Julie Briggs (Arena 80) not expected to race on Saturday year we may well have a repeat of that result.
In the Men’s M40 championship, which ends the afternoon’s racing at 2.10 such is the current form of Crawley’s Neil Boniface, would suggest that last year’s champion, Howard Bristow, will be hard pressed to retain his title and unfortunately injury has ruled out last year’s silver medallist James Baker who would have added a little more spice to the battle.
