Hastings athlete Grace Baker is the only Sussex runner selected in the Great Britain and NI team for the World Cross-country Championships at Guiyang in China at the end of the month.
Last weekend Baker, who has strung together a fine series of races this year, finished fourth in the junior race at the Inter-county Cross-country at Birmingham, which double as the Trials last weekend.
This will be Baker’s first appearance in the World Championships and hopes of team success in China rest on this under 20 team but they have real challenge if they are going to repeat the bronze medals that they won two years back, the last time the championships were held.
