Sussex Masters enjoyed great success in good cross-country conditions at Horspath, Oxford last Saturday.
Whilst the ground was testing due to heavy mud in places, the day was mild with no rain.
Arena 80’s Julie Briggs was 1st both overall and in the W50 age group in the women’s race in a time of 24:25.
Together with clubmates Dani Tarleton and Tara Shanahan, Arena took the overall team title. Dani was also awarded silver in the W45 category with a time of 24:45.
The Brighton-based team’s success continued for the women with Caroline Wood retaining her W55 title (27:03), Juliette Roberts’ bronze in the W40 (26:18) and bronze also for Chris Naylor in the W65 in 32:32. 
In the men’s race it was a fantastic overall win for Howard Bristow in a time of 31:47. The Brighton and Hove AC M40 was 10 seconds ahead of the runner in second. With team-mates Craig Halsey and Matt Bristow they took the overall team silver as well as the M40 gold. Craig (32:15) was also awarded individual bronze in this age band.
Sussex continued to celebrate as Paul Whelpton (Phoenix) took M65 gold in 37:30, Morris Tarragano (Brighton & Hove) 3rd in the M50 in 33:52 and Malcolm Kemp (Phoenix) 3rd in the M70s.
