The 2024 Arena 80/ Sussex AA - Young Athlete Award is now open for applications!
If you are a talented athlete aged 14-18, facing some real challenges, you can now apply for a grant of up to £250 that could make a difference.
Since 2021, Arena 80 AC has pledged £500 annually, and the county is matching that commitment. So far we've supported 12+ young athletes from across the county.
Who's eligible to apply? We invite applications from individuals aged 14 to 18, currently in full-time education, who are either born in Sussex or have resided in the county for more than nine months. Plus, you should be a member of an athletic club affiliated with Sussex AA. If you're under 18, your application can be submitted by a parent, carer, coach, or club official on your behalf.
Your answers should clearly show how this grant will help your sporting journey over the next few months. Whether it's funding extra training sessions, covering transport costs, taking care of sports injuries or buying kit.
The deadline is Saturday October 5th 2024 at midday; remember, late applications won't be considered. We promise to get back to everyone with a decision within two weeks.
Chris Naylor, from Arena 80 AC, the driving force behind this grant, says, "Today's young athletes are the future stars of clubs like ours. Supporting young talent is crucial, especially when we lose many athletes in our sport at this age. We hope these grants open doors to opportunities that young athletes might otherwise miss out on – whether it's for training, equipment, competitions, or physio."
