Despite relentless rain throughout the Manchester International, the 2019 England 100m and 200m champion, Crawley's Kimbely Baptiste, retained her fine form.
Representing England, Baptiste won the 100m race in 11.61 seconds, after an initial slip meant she was playing catch up from the start. A quick recovery enabled her to pull away from the opposition for an easy win by a metre.
A couple of hours later, in worsening conditions, the Dubai based PE teacher, was again in a different class as she cruised effortlessly around the bend in the 200m. Holding her form Baptiste dominated the field for the win in a time of 23.55s.
As if two victories were not enough, in the penultimate race of the evening, Baptiste returned to anchor the England women to first place in the 4x100m relay. However, disappointingly shortly afterwards the quartet was disqualified for a lane violation.
Earlier her clubmate, Holly Turner, was competing in the 400m. Turner came off the last bend well down the field, but found another gear for the final straight. Her late surge assured her of second place behind Great Britain junior Natasha Harrison, in a lifetime best of 54.41 seconds. Turner later anchored the 4x400m England team to second place behind Botswana.

Like Baptiste, Brighton Phoenix's George Mills had won a national title last month - over one mile. However, in a slow race the victory came down to a sprint finish and in the last stride Mills was just pipped for silver, coming third in a time of 4:11.87.
