Brighton & Hove’s Amber Anning has been selected to compete in the World Championships. That is in fact the ISF Schools World Championships at Nancy in France from the 24th – 30th June.
England is sending a team of six girls and six boys to the competition. They have been chosen based on performance in 2016/2017 and many of them are English Schools' Champions and/or SIAB medallists. The athletes are mainly multi eventers and Anning will be taking part in the 400m, Triple Jump and the Relay.
Currently Anning is the top under 17 400m runner in the Country with 54.88, which also ranks her fifth in the U20 age group.
Because of exams and a slight hamstring twinge she had had to turn down an invitation for the GB Junior 4 x 400m team at this weekend’s Loughborough international meeting.

Lewes Steeplechaser Rob Mullett has zoomed to the top of the British steeplechase rankings with a World Championships qualifying time in Los Angeles.
Although not matching his personal best time his second place time of 8:30.06s puts him well on the road to a place in the British team for the World Championships in London in August.
Another Sussex steeplechaser in good form in Los Angeles is Ryan Driscoll from Crowborough who earlier in the month clocked a personal best of 8:50.87s, which lifts him to eighth place on the Sussex All Time list.
Last weekend in Italy another Sussex steeplechase in good form was Brighton & Hove’s Will Gray who clocked 8:55.85s.
