An astonishing 49.51 for Amber Anning, now #3 on GB 400m All-Time List

14 May, 2024 By Melanie Anning

Sussex athlete Amber Anning smashed her personal best and county record by almost half a second, running a world class 49.51 seconds over 400m in the USA.

This performance moves Amber to third on the British Athletics All-Time list, behind only Kathy Cooke (49.43s) and Olympic Champion Christine Ohuruogu (49.41s).

Amber won the bronze medal at her South Eastern Conference (SEC) collegiate championships in the USA, with her university team, the Razorbacks, achieving a 1-2-3.

It was a record-breaking college race in which the first four athletes all ran sub-50 seconds.

See the race below. Amber’s in lane 8, second from outside.
