The accent is very much in Indoor competition with entries up 16% for the Sussex Indoor championships at Sutton on Saturday and Sunday and several leading Sussex athletes expecting to compete in the BUCS Indoor Championships at Sheffield.
The entries for the Sussex events have shown an increase of 12 athletes over last year’s total with 145 while entries are up to 227 from 197.
The BUCS gets underway on Friday and several Sussex performers can expect to reach their finals of their event including Brighton University’s Holly Turner (Crawley) in the 400m, Ian Crowe-Wright (Brighton & Hove) competing for Birmingham over 1500m, Horsham’s Jade Brewster in the pole vault for Cardiff and hurdler Bethany Close (Brighton & Hove) for Bath.
Unfortunately club mate Katie Garland who is entered to long jump for Loughborough is unlikely to compete following her hamstring injury when placing fourth in the English U20 event last weekend at Sheffield.
A little further north at the Glasgow Grand Prix Charlie Grice (Brighton Phoenix) will be racing, along with Adam Clark from Hastings, with Mo Farah over 3,000 metres.
Seb Rodger from Eastbourne will be running in the 400 metres and Lee Emanuel from Hastings will be racing in the 1500m all on Saturday.
