There were triple triumphs for Sussex athletes in the British and Irish Masters International cross country match at Glasgow on Saturday.
On a bright good day and over an undulating course a trio of Sussex runners returned home with two medals apiece, four gold medals, one silver and one bronze which must make this the most successful trip ever to this annual fixture for Sussex.
Howard Bristow (Brighton & Hove) made it a double gold in the M40 age group racing away with the individual title and leading the England team to victory.
In the W35 Worthing’s Emma Macready was a convincing winner of her event and collected a silver medal in the team event for England while making his international debut Brighton & Hove’s John Lowden won the M60 race in fine style and was a bronze medallist for England in the team event.
