A Comfortable Win For Amber

Amber Anning defended her title in style at the British Athletics Championships at the weekend.

The 24 year old Brighton & Hove athlete clocked 50.53 in the women’s 400m final taking gold and securing her place at the forthcoming World Champs in Tokyo.

Other Sussex athletes were also in action across the weekend at the event held at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.

Toby Harries (Phoenix) ran 45.98 in the men’s 400m for an impressive bronze medal.

Outside the medals but all in the finals were Grace Vans Agnew (Phoenix) 5th in the women’s 800m (2.01.70), Hollie Parker (Phoenix) 7th in the women’s 1500m (4.18.56) and Archie Davis (Phoenix) 7th in the men’s 1500m (3.58.19).

Under 23 Gemma Tutton (Lewes) jumped 4.25 in the women’s pole vault (short of her 4.45 PB) but still finishing a respectable 5th.
