A weekend of Indoor Champs – British and Age Group and the Brighton Half

21 February, 2020 By Melanie Anning

Scores of Sussex athletes will be in Glasgow and Sheffield for the British Indoor Championships and the England U15/U17 and U20 Championships which are both taking place this weekend.

In Glasgow the standard of competition will vary. The cancellation of the World Championships in China, due to the Coronavirus has meant that some of the UK's leading athletes have shut down their season to focus on Olympic qualification and are no longer travelling to Glasgow, which was the qualifying event for Nanjing.

Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove athlete Amber Anning, who is studying in the USA, ran 52.22 seconds to win her season opening 400m indoor race at Fayetteville in Arkansas last weekend. It is the fastest time ever run by a British teenager, 0.78 ahead of the British Junior record she set last year winning a silver medal at the British Indoor Champs.
