It brought Sussex’s total podium places to a magnificent 15 with a final tally of four gold, two silver and nine bronze medals. In addition the Junior Girls team won the Championship Shield as the highest points scorers for top eight finishes and the Junior Boys were second in their category.  Overall this was Sussex’s best English Schools Championships result in recent history.

Two Golds for Walkers at Regional Competition

Sussex School’s race walkers captured two South East Regional titles when the events were held in conjunction with the Combined Events competition at Ashford over the weekend.

Competing in the Over 15 age group 3,000m races Eva Payton-White took the Girls title in 17:49.7s while Ollie Hopkins won the Boys race in 15:18.9s.

Sparkling third place for Sussex Schools at Crawley

It was a great afternoon for Sussex Schools in the Inter-counties Schools match on Saturday.

In dull and blustery conditions that was a hindrance to most athletes at K2 the Sussex team finished a splendid third in a tight match that saw Kent lead all the way and win with 612 points with Surrey taking second place with 548 points after Sussex had held second place for much of the match.

Sussex had to settle for third place with 515 points to hold off Hampshire who scored 504 points.
