Battles for the Masters at Lancing Monor

After the exploits of the younger elements at the Sussex Schools cross-country championships on Wednesday it is the turn of parents and grandparents on Saturday when the Sussex Masters Championships are held at Lancing Manor.

Starting at 1.00 with the Men’s M50 and M60 championships this is followed by the Women’s race which includes all three age groups.

Sussex Cross-country secretary is making progress in the Sussex County Hospital following a serious cycling accident last week which involved an operation.

All Sussex cross-country runners will wish Phil a speedy and full recovery.

South of Thames

County women’s cross-country champion Nicole Taylor, from Crowborough, had a brilliant run at Aldershot on Saturday to finish second in the South of Thames Senior Team championship.

Bright10 win for Evans - The Weekend.

Lewes Athletic Club’s Tom Evans, along with several other leading Sussex runners, gave the Sussex Cross-country League event at Goodwood a miss last weekend to concentrate on the “Bright10” road race at Brighton on Sunday and he did it to good effect.

Evans, who is primarily a triathlete and James Westlake (Crawley) who is a footballer fought through the early stages of the race but Evans moved clear for a handsome victory in 51:46 to the Crawley runner’s 52:33 with David Wilson (Thames Hare and Hounds) in third place in 52:30.
