Sussex teams head to the Inter-counties

The leading Sussex cross-country athletes face their first major test of the season when they travel to Horspath, Oxford for the South of England Inter-county championships on Saturday.

All age groups will be involved except the Under 20 and Senior men but the South of England Masters Championships will also be held at Horspath and it is expected several Sussex Athletes will  be competing in those events.

Sussex League at Lancing

With a little luck it will be dry and crisp at Lancing Manor on Saturday for the third of this season’s Sussex Cross-country League fixtures.

Parking is difficult at all Sussex venues, apart from Goodwood but Maureen Stephens has made provision at the Lancing venue and she has issued the following notice.

NO PARKING FOR  X/COUNTRY AT IMPULSE LEISURE CENTRE, LANCING MANOR.

Parking is available at North Lancing School, Mill Rd BN15 0PT

(approx. 400m from The Manor ground)

The Battles of Bexhill

The second of this season’s Sussex Cross-county League matches on Saturday produced more big fields and some good battles at Bexhill Down.

Although mainly damp for most of the afternoon underfoot conditions were good for the notoriously muddy course and apart from the wooded stretches the going was firm.

Four of the seven races winners from Goodwood, last month, were again victorious but it was not all plain sailing.
