In overcast and chilly conditions with a headwind down the finishing straight the Slater/Bryce race produced a couple of good battles, with a few walkers improving on their last years times. Francisco Reis lead off with Ian Richards in close attention, Francisco then gradually drew away and went on to a clear victory, he was hoping for a faster time but felt that the headwind had slowed him somewhat, Ian come home second, so retaining his Sussex 10K Title, Steve Allen bettered his last years time by just over a minute to place third, John Hall and Malcolm Martin were together the whole race with John leading, Malcolm tried to get past John on the last lap but John was having none of it and held him off, Richard Emsley, slowly getting back to fitness and Paul Gaston were second and Third in the Sussex 10K Richard catching and passing Paul halfway through the race.
