County record at Crawley open

The near perfect weather conditions at the Crawley AC open may well have contributed to one of longest ever javelin throws by an under-13 British athlete.

Brighton's Dulcie Yelling first broke the county javelin record in 2018, when she threw 37.64m.

At K2 on Easter Saturday,  she improved this mark by almost two metres launching her spear out to 39.57m.

Only one under-13 British girl has ever thrown further and that was just last year when Hannah Lewington (Swindon) set the All-Time record of 41.66m.

Phoenix and Hastings Triumph in National 10K Team Championships

Phoenix women's team consisting of Beth Kidger, Tara Bage and Cat Bounds are the National 10k Team Champions.

The race was incorporated into the Brighton Marathon 10k, where Kidger ran a personal best of 33:57 for 7th place overall. With fine back up from Bage in 37:25 and Bounds in 39:19 the trio gained the Team title in a time of 1:50.41.

They had to beat off a strong challenge from Hastings AC. An in-form Lizzie Clarke ran an excellent 34:28, and with Rachael Mulvey in 36:18 and Jenna French in 40:29 they had a combined time of 1:51.15 just 34 seconds behind Phoenix.

Dina's surprise turn and strong opening results for Sussex Clubs at S.A.L.

Few Sussex athletes can boast that they have competed against the world's fastest woman at a Southern Athletics League meeting, but Crawley AC's relay women have those bragging rights!

At last Saturday’s Division 1 fixture at Gillingham, the triple European Champion and 2018 100m/200m world rankings leader - Dina Asher-Smith - put in an appearance for her club, Blackheath and Bromley, in the 4x400m relay, and casually knocked out a 52.6s split.
